This week’s prompt was “Bright” – another easy one right? Well, that depends – it’s not easy to convey a bright subject in an image. Correct exposure is key and somethings the Auto Exposure features of our cameras can get it wrong.
Image Stats:
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Aperture: f/13
ISO: 200

I’m in love with this week’s image from Take 52 Challenge Anne Payne. The theme for week 28 was water and although we had many many entries of beautiful water vistas it was this one of rain streaming down a windshield that captured me. Sometimes we struggle so much as photographers with the technical settings, and how to take the picture just right that we forget that photography is truly a creative art form and there is beauty in everything that you create.
Image stats:
Aperture:f/8.3
Shutter Speed: 1/15 sec
ISO: 500
Anne demonstrates in this image that your subject doesn’t have to be clear – it’s the feelings created that matter.

Things always look better when arranged in 3s so that’s where I came up with the the theme for this week – Trio.
This week’s image from Karen Farrell is a beautiful composition of three people, unposed and natural with beautiful subject placement.

This week’s theme gave us another little insight into the lives of challengers – Week 25: 5 O’Clock
The image below that I choose to critique is by Barbara Keusch and is a great example of a silhouette.
Image Stats:
Shutter Speed: 1/1000
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 200
If you would like to try to capture a silhouette image, remember to shoot a backlit subject and deliberately underexpose your image. You can do this even in Program Auto mode. Check out my video post which explains how to use Exposure Compensation for this.

Everyone’s a photographer these days – right? And when you’re scrolling through your facebook timeline it feels like everyone’s favorite subject is themselves! So it was only natural that we had to have the prompt “Selfie” one week. The funny thing is that most of the photographers in the Take 52 Challenge were a little CameraShy about their selfie. Most definitely prefer to be behind the camera, rather than in front of it.
The image I chose for this week’s critique is from the very awesome Challenger Michelle Burgess. Michelle’s image is way more than a selfie. Her use of lighting in her image creates a dramatic effect full and creates a sense of mystery and a little melancholy.

Getting inspiration for your photography can sometimes be a tricky thing. We all know the frustration that sometimes comes with trying to figure out what exactly to photograph. This week’s theme was all about that – Week 22: Inspired.
Wendy Dunne did an excellent job at capturing this week’s theme with her beautiful image below. Wendy achieved that slightly worn look to her image by using a texture in the editing process to wonderful effect. This is a great example of something so simple and everyday can look so beautiful. You can check out more of Wendy’s work over at her blog Got the Shot

This week’s theme could have been interpreted as a camera function or something completely different -Week 21: Flash (That’s the great thing about the Take 52 Challenge – it’s your Challenge to do with whatever you wish!)
This week’s image is from a long time contributor to the Challenge – Christy Zacharias who also showcases her weekly images along with a beautifully written blog over at A Thousand Words. You can check out her backstory to this image here.
